Action Items from the July 2026 MTHA Board of Directors meeting

Below are the action items adopted by the MTHA Board of Directors at its open meeting at Laurel Park on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Election Nominating Committee‍

The Board unanimously authorized President Katharine M. Voss to identify five Association members to serve on the Nominating Committee, subject to appointment by the Board in accordance with the organization's bylaws.

Out-of-State Owner and Developer Bonus Program‍

The Board voted to reaffirm the payment of Out-of-State Owner and Developer Bonuses for horses qualifying in $5,000 claiming races. The Board also unanimously approved funding for the program on terms consistent with the 2025 agreement.

Stakes Purse Distributions‍

The Board unanimously expressed support for paying purses through last place in stakes races, subject to the completion of a financial impact study. The Board will consider the matter further upon completion of the study.

Maryland Thoroughbred Partnership‍

The Board unanimously authorized a $50,000 contribution to the Maryland Thoroughbred Partnership to support the program through 2027.
