John Waite To Headline Preakness Draw Party

The Preakness Stakes post-position draw will be held Monday, May 15, at Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore and will include a public concert by English musician John Waite, who is known for his many popular songs in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The draw and the music performance is open to the public. The open portion will begin at 5:30 p.m. There will be a private reception for owners and trainers inside the venue from 4-5:30 p.m. There will be special wristbands for owners and trainers for complimentary food and beer. 

 After the private reception all attendees can migrate to the outside part of the venue where the public will also be invited to view the draw as well as the concert.

Here is the lineup for the Preakness party: 4-5:30 p.m.—cocktail party on the upper level of the Guinness Brewery; 5:30-6 p.m.—Preakness post draw on the outdoor stage, weather permitting; 6 p.m.—live performance by John Waite, who is best known for his 1984 hit single “Missing You,” which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He was also the lead vocalist for the successful rock bands The Babys and Bad English with chart-topping hits such as “Every Time I Think Of You” and “When I See You Smile.”

The 148th Preakness Stakes will be run Saturday, May 20, at Pimlico Race Course.
