Laurel Park Winter Stakes Announced

Laurel Park will offer $2.7 million over 25 stakes during its 2025 winter-spring meet, the first under the new not-for-profit entity called The Maryland Jockey Club. All of the stakes will be offered on eight Saturdays.
The winter meet runs from Jan. 17-March 30, followed by the spring meet which begins April 4 and ends May 4.
The $200,000 General George Stakes and $200,000 Barbara Fritchie Stakes, both Grade III, are part of a four-stakes program Feb. 15 with $600,000 in total stakes purses.
Two $150,000 stakes—the Federico Tesio for 3-year-olds and the Weber City Miss for 3-year-old fillies—will join three $100,000 turf stakes on the April 19 program. The 3-year-old events are called “Win Today, See You in May” as the winners receive berths in the Preakness Stakes and Black-Eyed Susan, respectively, at Pimlico.
There will be four $75,000 stakes for Maryland-bred and Maryland-sired horses, two on Jan. 18 and two on March 8.
