MTHA Christmas Party Is Back This Year
The Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association is pleased to announce that its 2024 Christmas Party will return to The Corner Stable restaurant located in Kings Contrivance Village Center in Columbia, Md.
The party will be held from 6-10 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 10. Last year’s event, which featured a gourmet buffet and a DJ, was very well-received, and this year’s party is expected to follow in that tradition.
The cost is $20 per ticket, and it is requested all attendees bring a new, unwrapped toy that can be given out during the annual MTHA Toy Drive later in December. Tickets will be available for purchase at the MTHA office at Laurel Park in November.
The Corner Stable is owned by Chip Reed, a member of the MTHA Board of Directors.

The Maryland Thoroughbred Racetrack Operating Authority on Dec. 23 officially announced that Maryland’s new Thoroughbred training center, a central component of a comprehensive plan to strengthen the state’s racing industry, will be built at Shamrock Farm near Woodbine in Carroll County. The Maryland racing community will come together in January to celebrate the life and legacy of Rodney Jenkins, a beloved trainer and equestrian who left an indelible mark on Maryland racing. Jenkins, a native of Middleburg, Va., passed away on Dec. 5 at the age of 80. A memorial service is scheduled for noon on Tuesday, Jan. 7, on the second floor of the clubhouse at Laurel Park.
