Renaissance Awards To Marriott Owings Mills

Tuesday, March 19, 2024

The seventh Renaissance Awards, which recognize the best of Maryland Thoroughbred racing and breeding each year, will be celebrated Wednesday, April 17, at the Marriott Owings Mills.

The hotel is located in the Metro Centre at 10101 Grand Central Ave., just off Interstate 795. The awards dinner is scheduled for 6-10 p.m. The cost is $100 per person with reservations due by April 1.

The Maryland Horse Breeders Association, as it did last year, will use Eventbrite for ticket purchases. The link will be posted after winners are informed about their comp tickets for the dinner.

The Renaissance Awards program, sponsored by the Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and MHBA, was created in 2017 to celebrate the state’s racing and breeding industry and to honor human and equine champions from the previous year. The first awards dinner was held the winter of 2018 at the Sagamore Pendry in Baltimore and the event, by design, has moved to a different location each year.

In 2020 and 2021, there was no awards dinner given COVID-19 restrictions. The MTHA and MHBA instead honored the many winners and finalists online and via social media. Though the dinner returned in 2023 at Citron in Baltimore, the organizations continued announcing the finalists and winners online during a one-week period in the winter.

The 2023 champions were rolled out by the MHBA on social media platforms the week of Feb. 26-March 1.
