Burial Assistance
Providing compassionate financial assistance to help Maryland’s Thoroughbred racing families during times of loss.
The Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association’s Burial Assistance Program provides limited financial assistance to help cover funeral expenses for current and former employees of Maryland’s Thoroughbred racing industry.
Each request is reviewed on an individual basis, with assistance determined by financial need and the family’s specific circumstances. When eligibility and need are established, the program may provide up to $2,500 toward reasonable funeral, burial, or cremation expenses, helping ease the financial burden during a difficult time.
In addition to financial assistance, the MTHA maintains a limited number of cemetery plots that may be made available to eligible families when needed, providing another measure of support and dignity during a time of loss.
